SMI manufactures tungsten alloys ranging from 90 to 95 percent tungsten content. Additions of nickel and copper promote tungsten solubility and wetting during the manufacturing process. Our material compares favorably to the copper-based tungsten alloys of AMS-T-21014; the specification contains additional material properties not found here.
Although traditionally used in applications where its high density insures superior performance (e.g., radiation shielding, x-ray collimation, etc.), WHA has also been utilized when a low coefficient of thermal expansion will match a III-V material, particularly in optoelectronics applications. |
